David was born November 25, 1943, in Eldorado, Illinois. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 1965 and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1967. Following his admission to the bar, David served as a law clerk to B. T. Moynahan, Jr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, after which he served for just over eight years as United States Magistrate for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He left the bench on January 31, 1980, to enter into private practice.
His practice initially consisted almost entirely of litigation, including the defense of white collar criminal charges, a large part of which was in the federal courts. With the passage of time, his practice has expanded to additionally include the ongoing representation of corporate clients in the railroad, banking, and other industries.
David is admitted to practice before the courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Fayette County, Jessamine County and Kentucky Bar Associations and is also a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Jim was born January 24, 1958 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He attended Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, before earning a BA degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky in 1980 and a JD degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1983.
Since graduation, Jim has practiced law in Lexington and Central Kentucky, most of that time in a family law firm with a general trial and appellate civil practice in the areas of Oil & Gas Law, Administrative Law, Corporate and Business Law, Civil Rights and Discrimination Law, Employment Law, Personal Injury and Negligence Law, General Litigation, Real Estate, and Wills and Probate. He has experience in civil litigation at all stages of the litigation process in both the state and federal court systems. He joined Moynahan, Irvin, Mooney & Stansbury, P.S.C. in December 2005.
Jim is admitted to practice before the courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Chris was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 24, 1974. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Berea College in 1996, where he served as Vice-President of the Student Government Association and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Chris graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1999, where he earned the Brown, Todd & Heyburn Scholarship and served as Co-President of the Trial Advocacy Board. Following his admission to the bar, Chris joined the law firm of Moynahan, Irvin, Mooney & Stansbury, P.S.C., as an associate and became a shareholder in March, 2008.
Chris’ primary practice areas are real estate, planning and zoning, family law, adoptions, estate administration/probate and commercial transactions. Elizabeth was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on July 21, 1980. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 2002. Elizabeth also graduated, magna cum laude, from Bringham Young University College of Law in 2007 where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, the Executive Editor of BYU Law Review and was the recipient of the J. Reuben Clark Award. Following her admission to the bar, Elizabeth was the law clerk Chief Judge Jennifer B. Coffman, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky until spring of 2009 when she joined Moynahan, Irvin, Mooney & Stansbury, P.S.C. as an associate.

Jennifer H. Acklen, Of Counsel
Jennifer was born March 27, 1972, in Lexington, Kentucky. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in Accounting, with an English minor from Transylvania University in 1994 and graduated with honors from the Tennessee College of Law in 1997. Following her admission to the bar in both Tennessee and Kentucky, Jennifer entered into private practice in Lexington, practicing in the areas of estate planning, probate, tax and corporate law and business transactions.
Jennifer joined the firm in 2002 and her primary areas of practice continue to be estate planning, probate, tax and corporate law and business transactions.
